When you order food online, you can do one of two things.
Your first option is if you know that your favorite Berlin restaurant has its own delivery service.
If this is the case, you can just order from their website.
But your favorite small place probably doesn’t have its own delivery service.
In this situation, it’s helpful that Berlin has food delivery services like Wolt and Lieferando.
On their websites, these food delivery services list all the places they work with, and you can pay for your food easily and quickly online.
Their army of drivers, who mostly race through town on their bikes, will take care of delivery. You can get any kind of food you want, from sushi to pizza to baguettes.
Just look at the websites and look for the food you like.
Wolt
When you walk around Berlin these days, you’ll notice that most cyclists wear either orange (Lieferando) or blue (Wolt).
We like the blue clothes from Wolt better, to be honest.
But we might also be biased because we think Wolt is by far Berlin’s best food delivery service.
Wolt is still pretty new in Berlin, and the company’s plan has been to add more high-quality places instead of just another average pizza place. So, if you want food that tastes like it came from a diner, we suggest you look at Wolt.

Out of business – Deliveroo
All of you have probably seen those green bikes speeding through the city before.
If you didn’t figure out who those crazy people were… They were the delivery vehicles for Deliveroo, which in 2019 was the second largest food delivery service in Berlin.
Like Foodora, which was bought by Lieferando, they focused on bringing food from your favorite high-end restaurants directly to your home, rather than from the usual cheaper delivery places.
So, if you wanted some fancy, high-quality food brought right to your door, Deliveroo was the place to go.
But at the end of 2019, Deliveroo chose to leave the German market and stop doing business there.
Out of business – Lieferheld.de
As a company based in Berlin, Lieferheld worked with many places in and around Berlin.
All you had to do was put in your address, pick your favorite place, and pay online or in cash when the food came.
On the Lieferheld website, you could choose the type of food you were in the mood for and see how other customers had rated them in the past.
It’s never been easier to order food, and most of the time, it only takes 20 to 30 minutes for the food to come.
You may be wondering why all of this is written in the past tense.
Well, their rival, Lieferando, bought both Lieferheld and Pizza.de.
Even though you can still go to the website, we think that soon there will be nothing left of Lieferheld.

For many years, Pizza.de was one of our favorite food delivery services in Berlin.
Pizza.de gave you a lot of ways to find your favorite restaurant online, such as by average review, price, and so on.
Similar to Lieferheld, you could pay cash on delivery or use one of many other online payment methods, such as a credit card or PayPal.
Pizza.de may have been one of the oldest companies that delivered food online.
But after about 10 years, the same thing will happen to them as it did to Lieferheld. Soon, it will all be gone.
Order Food Online in Berlin
As you can see, more and more businesses have chosen to try again in the German delivery market.
For a long time, Lieferando was the only online food delivery service that worked in Berlin.
But now that Wolt and UberEats are in the game, there are more options and more competition, which generally means that delivery fees are lower.
If you can’t find your favorite restaurant online, check their website. Some restaurants have started sending their own drivers to serve food.
