For the time being, at least, you may still purchase individual Mint plans and activate eSIMs while Mint Mobile is being bought by T-Mobile. We’ll go over the activation procedure below.
How to activate an eSIM for Mint Mobile
Within the Mint Mobile app
Since it’s the simplest, this approach is chosen. Just be sure to first check Mint’s website for eSIM compatibility and to make sure your phone is charged and connected to Wi-Fi before beginning. You’ll also need your former account information, such as its number and PIN, if you’re switching from another carrier.
Take these actions:
Launch the iPhone or Android app for Mint Mobile.
Then choose Activate your SIM card. The app will identify compatible devices.
- If it works, the app will walk you through the procedure. Mint claims it should just take “minutes,” but you might want to allow up to an hour just in case.
On the webpage for Mint Mobile
If you recently purchased a Mint Mobile plan online (using a computer or tablet) and are eager to get started right away, this could be more convenient. Although you have the option to get an email link for later activation, we’ll presume for the sake of this article that you wish to proceed immediately.
- Click Activate Now when you arrive at the Mint plan’s order confirmation page.
- With the phone you wish to use, scan the QR code that is provided. Typically, to do this, simply open the Camera app on your phone and touch a link when it appears in the viewfinder. However, Android users may need to make sure that QR scanning is enabled in their camera settings.
- The process of activation will begin. Close the related window on your phone and try scanning the QR code again if your phone gets stuck on Cellular Plan after you’ve scanned it.
The QR code is furthermore present in your confirmation email for added security. If the email appears to be missing, check your spam or trash folders.
